History of Innovation

Sam Browne Military Belt

Our origins began with a belt. The Sam Browne Military Belt was created to help an officer who lost his arm in battle. The belt allowed him to withdraw his sword or gun without the need of both of his hands. It soon became standard issue in the military during World War 1. It became world-famous when worn by the first aviators to fly around the world. Today, it has been widely adopted by the police force.

Basket Weave

Voigt Leather were the first makers of the “basket weave” design used in leather goods. You can see this design widely among leather goods such as belts, bags, holsters and more.

Leather Car Trunks

During the 1920s, before our metal trunks were part of the regular car exterior design, automobiles would provide travel storage through leather boxes that were attached to the back of the vehicle. Voigt Leather constructed and supplied fine leather trunks for Cadillac, Chrysler and LaSalle automobiles.
